Sandblasting
Metal conditions vary widely among grades and thickness of steel. Powder coating requires pristine metal condition for optimal coating performance. It is futile to put a high quality finish system on poorly prepared metal. Likewise, it may not be necessary to excessively prepare metal that is in acceptable condition for less extreme applications. For example, indoor use may not require the same level of metal preparation as outdoor or extreme environment conditions. Understanding the application and performance requirements of a project are critical to a succesful longterm outcome. Test equipment in house for blast profile documentation to meet SSPC* standards.

Examples of blast variations from unblasted, raw carbon steel on the right, to near white blast (second from the left). All pieces were blasted to near white condition and powder coated with zinc rich epoxy powder primer and top coated with ultra durable, silver, architectural grade powder coat. Application: Exterior canopy structures above entries on new construction commercial properties.
Example of hot rolled steel pre-blasted by other's and re-blasted in our facility. Small patch at left end represents other's while remainder of part represents near white blast completed just prior to coating. Coated with zinc rich epoxy powder primer and top coated with exterior grade polyester dull black powder. Application: Indoor/outdoor commercial bar top.
A large steel frame structure blasted to a near white finish for a high performance three stage liquid paint system for harsh environments. Application: Military communication system structure for installation in the arctic circle.
Typical structural steel with loose carbon irregularities and surface rust, requires blasting prior to paint. Application: Structural steel for back up power station at high tech server farm on the east coast.
Example of heavy and unstable mill scale on thick hot rolled carbon steel plate. The thicker the HRS, the less stable the mill scale can be. These parts require blasting to near white for powder coating finish. Application: Equipment platforms at energy facility.
